Lay your towel next to a blue flag in Northern Sardinia. Gallura leads the way on the island with the highest number of beaches awarded by the FEE.
If you’re looking for the perfect destination for your next holiday in Northern Sardinia, you can start with the Blue Flag 2020 beaches. From Badesi to the La Maddalena Archipelago, the coastline is dotted with dream beaches that meet the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) requirements: excellent water quality, waste separation, pedestrian areas, cycle paths, green spaces, beach services, urban furnishings, and hotel and healthcare facilities.
Gallura confirms the 2018 results, ranking first on the island with 5 localities and 18 beaches receiving the prestigious award.
Here are the Blue Flags 2020 of Northern Sardinia, just a stone’s throw from Delphina hotels and resorts.
- Li Junchi in Badesi, a Blue Flag beach since 2016, is the beach of the Resort Le Dune. With 8 kilometres of white sand and crystal-clear sea, it’s perfect for enjoying the sea in complete freedom, with plenty of space to play, walk, or relax with the whole family. On the same stretch of coastline, Li Mindi and Baia delle Mimose also boast the same recognition.
- The Blue Flag flies over three beaches in the Trinità d’Agultu area. Spiaggia Lunga, in the heart of Isola Rossa, is just a short walk from the Hotel Torreruja. The La Marinedda bay, a crescent of white sand and turquoise sea in front of the 5-star Hotel Marinedda, is famous for its fiery sunsets and is one of the most important spots in Northern Sardinia for surfing and windsurfing. The new addition for 2020 is Cala Sarraina, a natural amphitheatre to visit when you’re seeking privacy, just a stone’s throw from Isola Rossa, in nearby Costa Paradiso.
- Continuing towards the eastern coast of Gallura, you’ll find the Blue Flag of Santa Teresa. Just a few minutes by car from the Resort Valle dell’Erica Thalasso & SPA, you’ll find Rena di Ponente and Rena Bianca (awarded since 2015) and Zia Culumba – Rena di Levante (awarded since 2017).
- Guests of the Hotel Capo d’Orso, the Residence il Mirto, and the Park Hotel Cala di Lepre are spoilt for choice in Palau, a Blue Flag area since 2012, which again this year confirms the beaches of Palau Vecchio and Isolotto and the tourist harbour.
- The beauty of the La Maddalena Archipelago is represented by seven stunning beaches where the Blue Flag flies. All located on the island of La Maddalena and the nearby island of Caprera, they are easily reachable with a twenty-minute ferry ride from the port of Palau or with one of the boat excursions organised by Delphina.
- The list of Blue Flags in Sardinia continues to be extensive. In 2020, the number of awarded localities in Sardinia remains at 14, with a total of 44 beaches, placing the island in sixth position in the ranking of Italian regions.
