It’s no secret that our peninsula hosts some of the most enchanting sea-view hotels. A collection of charming hotels among historic monasteries, Belle Époque villas, farms, and cliff-top resorts with dreamy beaches and thalasso pools. Travel expert Kate Bolton describes them as “the best seaside retreats in Italy, where mild evenings stretch well beyond August, and the coastal breeze is in the air”.

It is indeed the Hotel Capo d’Orso, the boutique hotel of the Gallura hotel chain Delphina, that stands out as the only facility in Sardinia to earn a spot among the top 10 seaside addresses of the peninsula. A retreat with 86 rooms nestled in the Cala Capra Park overlooking the Island of Caprera to the Emerald Coast, featuring a private marina, a 9-hole pitch & putt golf course, and a Thalasso center. Flanking the hotel are the Cala Capra and Cala Selvaggia beaches, along with loungers set on five wooden sun decks resting on the water.

An oasis of tranquility and relaxation symbolizing the natural beauty of Sardinia, which the renowned British newspaper describes as: “Hotel Capo d’Orso takes its name from the gigantic bear-shaped rock that guards the Bocche di Bonifacio on Sardinia’s legendary northern coast. The Capo d’Orso is nestled between two charming coves where you can bask in the water or take a walk to the Capo d’Orso promontory. Managed by the Delphina group, promoters of a green ethic, this boutique hotel offers jewel-like ‘cottages’ nestled in greenery, with shaded corners, a seawater pool, a SPA, romantic bars, and restaurants that dreamily float above the water.”

Also noteworthy are a new cliff-side gym with cardio-fitness equipment and a nine-hole Pitch & Putt golf course, strategically placed with views of the islands. Amid junipers, wild olives, and granite rocks, the Thalasso & SPA Center “L’Incantu” is Hotel Capo d’Orso’s wellness oasis, enveloped in the scents of the Mediterranean scrub. For those wanting to explore the surroundings, boats owned by the hotel set sail daily from the private marina to visit the La Maddalena Archipelago and the Emerald Coast, extending to the Corsican Archipelago and the town of Bonifacio. Among these is the Pulcinella sailing ship, a magnificent Norwegian wood from 1927.
