The “romantic” gem of the Delphina group is among the most iconic independent hotels in the world: “a true paradise of elegance and harmony that embodies timeless charm,” says LHW.
We are thrilled to share the latest prestigious recognition for the 5-star Hotel Capo d’Orso Thalasso & SPA in Palau, which has joined the world’s most exclusive collection of independent luxury hotels, one of The Leading Hotels of the World.
Since its founding in 1928, The Leading Hotels of the World has selected only properties that meet the highest hospitality standards. Around 400 establishments are included worldwide, iconic 5-star properties with unique character, such as Hotel Le Negresco on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, the Hotel Ritz in Paris, or Villa d’Este in Como.

For this reason, the inclusion of Hotel Capo d’Orso in the prestigious LHW portfolio is a significant milestone not only for Delphina hotels & resorts’ Gallura hospitality but also for northern Sardinia as a whole. It is a recognition we hold dear, the result of major investments made over the past three years, which have allowed Hotel Capo d’Orso to stand out as the only Sardinian-owned and managed hotel among the most iconic properties in northern Sardinia. Furthermore, thanks to its strategic location, it is the only LHW collection property situated between Olbia and the National Park of the La Maddalena Archipelago.

Indeed, the location is breathtaking, at the foot of the Bear Rock natural monument, nestled within the 100,000 sqm park of Cala Capra overlooking the island of Caprera and the Costa Smeralda. A haven of privacy and relaxation with a private marina, set between two beaches of fine sand and turquoise waters, it has also captured the heart of Deniz Omurgonulsen, Vice President, Member Experience of The Leading Hotels of the World: “It is a true paradise of elegance and harmony. This extraordinary property in northern Sardinia embodies the timeless charm and vibrant essence that define our collection. From its serene Mediterranean atmosphere to details crafted for romance, relaxation, and exploration, Capo d’Orso invites travellers to embrace the moment and connect with the wonders of nature.”
Hotel Capo d’Orso will reopen on 16 May 2025 with newly renovated prestigious rooms, including the exclusive Junior Suite Executive and the Caprera Open Space Suites with sea views, featuring Mediterranean design enriched by exquisite local artisan craftsmanship. This is complemented by the refurbishment of the wellness areas and gardens, the complete renewal of the gym perched on the cliffs, and the enhancement of the golf offering with a professional simulator to virtually play on the world’s most prestigious courses.

What makes Hotel Capo d’Orso unique is its connection with nature, to be experienced fully at every moment of the day. Starting with breakfast, served to the sound of the harp and with sea views at the Gli Olivastri restaurant. Surrounding you is the Mediterranean park of Cala Capra, with hidden hammocks nestled in the greenery and paths leading to the lighthouse. Continue your day at the Thalasso & SPA L’Incantu, just steps from the sea, for a rejuvenating experience through thalassotherapy, with heated seawater pools and open-air massages amidst the scents of Mediterranean flora. For exclusive dining experiences, L’Ile Flottante, located “right on the water,” or Il Paguro restaurant, recently featured in the Gambero Rosso 2025 Restaurant Guide.

The cliffside gym with sea views is perfect for staying fit even on holiday, and for golf enthusiasts, the 9-hole Pitch & Putt course offers panoramic views of the islands. And if adventure calls, how about an excursion aboard the 1927 sailing ship Pulcinella or exclusive boats with a skipper departing directly from the hotel’s private marina to explore the enchanting La Maddalena Archipelago National Park?
